Country of the Week (Week 2)

This week's country of the week is a riddle. Exciting, right? I'm going to give you the longest place name in the world and you have to guess it's English name. Now no cheating and looking it up online, this has to be entirely out of your own head. But don't worry, they're are hints within the word. Alright, here goes this is the country name: al-Jamahiriyah al-'Arabiyah al-Lïbïyah ash-Sha'biyah al-Ishtirãkiyah
Now post which country you think it is and then you can go look it up.

Things That Are Not Right

These are some things that I (Grace Drennan) do not think are right. The first is quite obvious(seeing as we spent a lot of today doing this), school on Saturday; ever since the beginning of time school has been Monday-Friday and the weekend has been Saturday and Sunday. But I guess the good ole administrators of MDIRSS decided to throw caution to the wind and have school on Saturday. The second thing on my list is old people listening to Pop music and you know, liking it. And I don't mean old people like our parents old, I mean like people are grandparents age. Yes, I have witnessed people older then 60 bopping their heads along to Rhianna, Jay-Z, and such. And let me tell you, is is not a pretty sight. I understand that it's sort of mean, but still, old folks should be listening to stuff like, I don't know, Elvis, or maybe Otis Redding. Well, those are the only two things I can think of right now so maybe I'll add some more things to the list tomorrow.

Country of the Day, Day 4/5

Okay, so yesterday I was very busy and didn't get home 'till after 10 and the internet was shut off so I didn't do Country of the Day. So now I'll do two countries that are one now but will someday soon in the future be separate. Bosnia and Herzegovina. A mouthful to say the least. This European country located on the Balkan peninsula's capital is Sarajevo. It used to be part of Yugoslavia until 1992 when it separated(Yugoslavia is no longer a country, but Mrs. Edmondson doesn't know that).
So yeah.

My Question to the Universe

This is my question to the Universe today: Why does math suck so bad? Now Universe, I really think you should give this one some thought before you answer it.

Country of the Day, Day 3

Today's Country of the Day is Djibouti. A few facts about Djibouti are as follows. It is not pronounced the way it looks, in fact you say it more like ji-booti. In 1977 it became independent from France. Djibouti is a small country located in Northeastern Africa. It borders Eritrea to the North, Somalia to the South, and Ethiopia to the Southwest.

Random Rambals, Aral Sea

Why did the Aral Sea have to go and shrink it's damn self so much? I mean it was perfectly fine before hangin' out over there with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan but I guess the little guy(sea) wanted more. Or in this case less. Just look over there at the poor, pathetic, excuse for a sea! It even changed color! It reminds me of a bean(not the dog) that someone put on the back shelf of their cupboard. And the little bean just sat there for approximately 19 years waiting for someone to look in and say, "Hey! Let's make bean soup!" But no one ever did, that poor, poor bean. . . And if to start out the Aral Sea was a young healthy bean now it is a sullen middle-aged bean who has nothing left to live for. And the only reason this shriveled, old bean hasn't committed suicide yet is for lack of method. I mean if you're a bean how are you going to kill yourself? They can't exactly overdose on pills because of the whole no mouth thing, and knives are sort of out of the question seeing as they are generally at least five times bigger then the average bean. And this bean isn't even average. It's the only thing worse then being average, below average. Well I've worked myself into a tizzy thinking about a sea and a bean and a, wait a second, that's really what I was writing about? Seas and beans? I'm officially insane! And I guess, in conclusion, the Aral Sea/bean shrinking isn't really it's fault, it's pollution. Same as always. But still, you can't really blame pollution for something, it's not nearly as fun as blaming a physical thing. So this is why I choose to blame the Aral Sea for all it's problems, not an innocent bean going through a mid-life crisis, not pollution, not even the Russians/Soviets(even though it really ends up being their fault . . .)!
Hello, this is your captain speaking. We will be landing in wherever we're going in about a half hour but until then sit back and relax while I keep you entertained with random information about my life. . .        In less then one week I will be a teenager! As you can tell this is a very exciting time for me. And on top of the fact that it's my normal birthday it's also my golden birthday so I'm extra excited(ish). What's that I hear? You don't know what a golden birthday is!?! Well! Let me enlighten you. . . You see your golden birthday is when you turn the age that your birth-date is. Since I was born on April 13 and this year I'm turning 13 this year is mine. Now my questions to you are; When's yours? Has it already happened? Or will it not happened until your 30 or something? Now your probably thinking, wait a second. . . why is a 12-year-old flying the plane?

Country of the Day, Day 2

Today's Country of the Day is Finland. Upon request from Eleanor I will write a fun fact about this country for the benefit of you less geography-knowing people(jk you are all geniuses)!!
So the Fun Fact about Finland is that 75% percent of it is covered in forest and 10% percent of it is made up of water bodies.

Tales of the Insomniac

Well here I am 9:46 PM, typing away at my laptop. Yesterday at around this time I was in bed with my light off, listening to music and starting to get a little sleepy. Tonight I'm fully dressed and haven't even begun to think about standing up from my desk, dragging myself the 10 ft over to the bathroom where I can brush my teeth, think about maybe changing my non-flossing ways, and eventually come back to my hideously wallpapered room to read a few chapters of my book and maybe listen to Pandora. But now I sit, my half done math homework beneath me starting to regret that rather large cup of coffee I chugged this morning. And, of course, The Wells Fargo Wagon just has to be stuck in my head (I thought I was done with Harold Hill and his Music-Manning ways but no. .  .) And oh great I have five minutes left of internet and I was going to look up that thing. . . Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Great, now Tomorrow, from Annie is stuck in my head along with The Wells Fargo Wagon. Shit.

Counry of the Day, Day 1

Alright so today's Country of the Day is Azerbaijan. Cuz it's the best counry EVER!!!!!!!! So yeah. . .

So. . .

I'm bored so I'm going to post a Country of the Day every day.
